There is a lot of talk about super foods, which is something that I
consider nonsense. There are no magic foods, and all things are best
eaten in moderation. However, I always say that there are certain foods
that everyone should be eating at least once a week, and a few foods
that should be eaten almost every day. In this later group I would
include foods like oatmeal, carrots, broccoli (or other dark green
veggies) and tomatoes. These are all easy foods to throw on the side of a
plate.
New research recently published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism just adds one more reason to make tomatoes an almost daily part of your meal plans. The research done by Rutgers university points that diets high in tomatoes can cause an increase of 9% of adiponectin, a hormone responsible for regulating fat and blood sugar levels and which can decrease the risks of breast cancer.
It is a great idea to put a slice or two of tomato on the side of each dinner plate at night or find creative ways to add them to your favorite cooking recipes
